Kew Gardens Workshop Commission for Herbarium Staff

KEW GARDENS & FERN HERBARIUM CYANOTPES

KEW commissioned a workshop in response to their fern specimens & Kew staff was involved in printing impressions of ferns in cyanotype process, to be included in the herbarium.

THE PROCESS

  • Location session took about 4h at Nash Conservatory

  • Multiple fresh ferns were gathered by staff and printed on A3 Kew herbarium sheets

  • Each member of staff printed multiple prints

OUTCOMES

  • Prints were finished on the day and each participants could take prints home as well as leave prints for Kew to be included in herbarium collection. Fern specimens were gathered for pressing, preserved and numbered to be included together with the cyanotype prints
