Step back in time to the enchanting world of Victorian photography and perfumery with this immersive, hands-on workshop. Hosted in a working photography studio, this unique event invites participants to explore the artistry of scent and image-making. Guests will blend their own custom perfume roller inspired by the scents of Victorian-era photography —melding natural botanicals with modern sustainable techniques—and sit for a traditional tintype portrait crafted using authentic 19th-century methods.
Led by Yasmine ElGhamrawy of Yatlina, a certified aromatherapist and Magda Kuca, an artist specialist in historic photography, this intimate workshop offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with history through sensory experiences. With limited spaces available, attendees can expect personalised guidance, interactive demonstrations, and a memorable day steeped in creativity and nostalgia.
Each participant will get a chance to sit for a portrait handcrafted on tin using the historic process of wet collodion- a one-off handcrafted photograph made of silver & light that is processed under the red light of a darkroom. Using this Victorian, craft-based method, plates on tin or glass are captured with a large format wooden camera.
